Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 31, 2026

Better is operated by Diligent4. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it. We keep it straightforward.

1. What We Collect

  • Account info: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google OAuth.
  • Dispute content: The text you submit describing your side of a case.
  • Voice recordings: If you use voice input, your audio is sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored after transcription is complete.
  • AI-generated content: Briefs, verdicts, deep analyses, and appeal results produced by our AI systems.
  • Payment data: Payment transactions are handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We retain records of what you purchased and transaction IDs.
  • Cookies: Session cookies for case access and authentication cookies if you sign in with Google.
  • IP addresses: Collected for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not linked to your identity.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Processing your dispute through our AI systems to generate briefs and verdicts
  • Maintaining your case history (if signed in)
  • Processing payments through Stripe

3. What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your personal data to anyone

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Better. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe handles all card data directly.
  • Google: OAuth authentication for sign-in.
  • Vercel: Application hosting.
  • Neon: PostgreSQL database hosting for case data and user accounts.

5. Data Retention

  • Cases and verdicts: Stored indefinitely so you can access your case history.
  • Audio recordings: Deleted immediately after transcription. We only store the resulting text.
  • Session cookies: Expire after 7 days.
  • IP addresses: Rate-limiting data is stored temporarily in Redis and expires automatically.
